Bowling Greens

The bowling greens at Halls Head Bowling Club are the pride of our Club, and also our most expensive commodity.  Our greens have evolved from initially installed grass greens to an early synthetic variety. Following that carpet greens were all the rage but unfortunately the life expectancy & cost rate combined with the harsh Mandurah summer sun means the latest generation is a sand filled synthetic grass. The club has four bowling greens, all with adjacent shade facilities with outside M/F toilets & disabled facilities.   The four greens are nominally 39m long and all the same construction:

  1. ‘A’ green. ‘A’ green is 40m wide & can accommodate 7 rinks. The surface is synthetic grass.  ‘A’ green was installed in 2014.
  2. ‘B’ green. ‘B’ green is 37.5m wide & can accommodate 7 rinks. The surface is synthetic grass. ‘B’ green was installed in 2016.
  3. ‘C’ green. ‘C’ green is 40m wide & can accommodate 7 rinks. The surface is synthetic grass. ‘C’ green was installed in 2014.
  4. ‘D’ green. ‘D’ green is 30m wide & can accommodate 5 rinks. The surface is synthetic grass.  ‘D’ green was installed in 2013.  Wheelchair access ramp is available for ‘D’ green.

LED Floodlights have been installed across all four greens.

The greens are maintained by a conscientious team, with Monday morning being the busy time for vacuuming the ditches & rolling the surface when required. The greens are connected to an automatic reticulation system to keep control of rink speeds when required.
