Junior Bowls

Schools Carnival

SCHOOL CARNIVAL  – 2020

Last Friday the 20th November, Halls Head and Port Bouvard bowling clubs both hosted six primary schools in the Inter-Primary School Lawn Bowls Competition. It was a great morning with the students soon picking up the object of the game (with the able help of their volunteer coaches) and became very competitive. So much so that four of the schools were only separated by one shot each. The winners, North Mandurah Primary School, however, managed a four shot advantage over last year’s winners, St Jospeh’s Primary School. Several volunteers said there were some potential champions amongst there charges. Also, a few of teachers were surprised at how much fun the game was and how involved their students became.

I’d like to thank all involved in helping with this event; Jacki Henry for her superb organisation, Patsy Smith for setting up the games for us, Chris Starbuck for running the scoring computer with Glenys Brandis in charge of collecting the cards and the many volunteers (including the Peel Bowling Club crew) who helped out on the green. A special mention goes to my husband, John, for helping me collect and return bowls. Once again the clubs of Pinjarra, Yunderup and Mandurah all kindly loaned their Junior bowls for the competition.
